The forward has scored five goals in 10 La Liga outings during the current campaign.

Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to supporters for his conduct when taken off in Sunday's heated Clasico clash triumph.

Vinicius was replaced in the 72nd min and showed his frustration by walking immediately off the pitch.

The Brazilian eventually reappeared to the sidelines and, following his side's 2-1 victory, tried to confront Barcelona's opposing player during unsavoury post-match incidents.

"Today I want to express regret to all the Real Madrid fans for my response when I was substituted in the Clasico," the player shared on his account.

"Just as I have previously expressed during the latest training, I wish to apologise again to my teammates, the club, and the president.

"Occasionally emotion overcomes me because I always want to succeed and support my team. My competitive character comes from the love I feel for this club and everything it symbolizes."

He signed for Madrid from Brazil in 2018 for millions and has accumulated 111 goals in numerous matches.

But his career in the La Liga is uncertain with reports in the past few months suggesting that the club would consider permitting the player move on if they were to receive a appropriate bid.

When the winger was taken off on Sunday, TV coverage from network Dazn recorded him stating: "Again me! I'm exiting the club! It's wiser if I depart, I'm moving on."

In his latest post on social media, he stated: "I vow to keep fighting constantly for the good of Real Madrid, as I have performed since the initial arrival."
