The England manager Questions Wembley Crowd Support Despite Comfortable Win Over Wales.
The England head coach expressed his regret that the England team did not receive greater encouragement from the home crowd during their impressive triumph over Wales on Thursday evening.
The manager was satisfied to see his squad maintain their strong performance, with goals from Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Saka inside the opening quarter settling the match. However, he was unhappy with the energy at the iconic venue.
“We had limited sessions to get ready against a organized team and we excelled,” Tuchel remarked. “We could have been 5-0 up at half-time. We missed the fourth and fifth ones. The stadium was silent. There was no any energy back from the crowd. We did everything to win.”
“What more can you give in 20 minutes? We didn’t let them get away. If you hear just Wales fans for 30 minutes, it’s disappointing because the team warranted more support today.”
“I support my words. We cannot do more than leading 3-0 in a rivalry match. I hoped for a little more support in moments where it is challenging.”
“In the second half, to cheer us on, there was a bit too much backing for the opposition. It might have aided us to recharge, but it is what it is and that is it.”
Selection Choices Justified by Performance
Away from risking a dispute among supporters, the manager also caused a stir by leaving out Jude Bellingham and Foden from his team selection. But the decision was justified by Morgan Rogers excelling in the attacking midfield role and netting his maiden goal for his country.
“He plays his game,” the head coach said. “He is a No 10 and he is fighting for his position.”
Bellamy Hopes for Improvement from Defeat
Craig Bellamy expressed hope that his team, who host a strong Belgian side in a key World Cup qualifier on Monday, improve after their awful first-half display.
“This is why I wanted this game,” Bellamy stated. “I wanted to assess our standing. Where do we want to go? Who do we want to be? Today fills me with motivation.”
Fitness Worry for Striker
Ollie Watkins was substituted at the break after hitting a goalpost and may miss out when England face Latvia in Riga in a qualifier on next week.
